Adding Value to Our Community

As I look around, I noticed how big many people are becoming in America. Some of the young people are three times as big as the young people were when I was growing up. Many have succumbed to fast food and don’t even think about going outdoors except to get into their cars.

We should get campaigns going in our communities to educate people on the importance of eating healthy and exercise. We should teach them how to prepare simple meals of fruits, vegetables, protein and whole grains and the importance of drinking lots of water. We should help to motivate them to exercise on a regular basis. We should become positive role models through example and encouragement.

School is out and now is an excellent time to get people in the community involved in programs that will help to give them a better quality of life. We can think of ways to make it fun and exciting while we help them develop a habit of eating healthy and exercise. Let’s get out and do something that will add value to the people in our communities.

Are You Getting Enough Sleep?

Getting enough sleep is very important for maintaining a healthy body. The Bible tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit…Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? – 1 Corinthians 6:19. We should maintain our bodies for the Holy Spirit to dwell in.

Some people may relate sleeping to laziness and some may think that sleep is a waste of time. But it is not a waste of time. Getting plenty of sleep has so many benefits;
  • Sleep helps us to lose weight
  • Sleep strengthens our immune system
  • Sleep helps us to be alert throughout the day
  • Sleep increases our productivty
  • Sleep helps us to think straight and remember things
  • Sleep refreshes and rejuvenates us
  • Sleep is our defense against anxiety and depression
  • Sleep helps us to stay alive
Sometimes it’s hard to sleep worrying about the cares of this life, but Peter tells us to cast all of our cares on Jesus…Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you – 1 Peter 5:7.

Some people are so stressed that it’s hard for them to fall asleep. If you have a hard time falling asleep, try eliminating all distractions in your bedroom. Set an atmosphere of calmness and peace with some soft soothing music and scent of lavender.

Let’s get into a habit of getting plenty of sleep. Our bodies will be glad that we did!

Mother's Day

On Mother’s Day, we think about the wonderful times we’ve spent with our mother while growing up. We remembered the things she taught us and the times she showed us how to cook our favorite foods. We always think about the wonderful times we had together.

Don’t forget your mother on this special day. Call her and let her know that she is truly loved and appreciated. If your mother is with the Lord, think about the wonderful times you shared together.

After growing up, we can still hear our mother’s voice instructing us as we walk through the challenges of life. Mothers are a special gift to us from God. Let’s be thankful for our mothers.

Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s A New Season

This is the season to get out and do something good for ourselves. We should throw off the pass season blues and get moving. Taking a morning walk, or an evening stroll, is good for our minds. When we walk, it rids us of anxiety and it clears our thoughts. We feel the cool breeze gently hitting against us while the birds glorify God in the background. We can see the handiwork of a mighty God all around us.

Let us imitate the birds of the air by glorifying God for all the wonderful things He has done. What a way to start our day! What a way to end our day!
